Benefits Of Using Sunscreen Lotion

Sunscreen lotion has a long list of benefits. They can protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays and prevent skin problems such as hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and dark spots. Sunscreen lotion is a product that is used to prevent the skin from getting sunburns, sun damage, and skin cancer. It is important to use sunscreen lotion and reapply it throughout the day as directed on the label.

Why Wearing Sunscreen Lotion Is A Must?

Sunscreen Lotion

1. Shields From Harmful UV Rays

Due to the depletion of the ozone layer, powerful UV rays are able to get through the atmosphere and cause irreversible damage. The sun is a vital source of vitamin D, without which our bodies can’t function properly. Too much exposure without protection can cause health problems. Use sunscreen to block damage done by harmful UV rays that may trigger skin disorders.

2. Prevents Premature Aging

Controlling the effects of aging on your skin is important because having youthful looks can mean a better overall quality of life in general. Some people use lighting cream to reduce wrinkles or take medication for age-related conditions like alopecia. Others use sunscreen lotions to decrease their chances of getting skin cancer.

3. Lowers Skin Cancer Risks

Exposure to sunlight can make your skin vulnerable to cancer. Wearing sunscreen on a regular basis helps protect your skin in the long term and limits the risk of developing serious skin diseases.

4. Lowers Blotchiness on the Face

Apply a generous amount of sunscreen to prevent painful side effects like red spots and rash.

5. Prevents Sunburns

People love the outdoors during the summer, whether it’s to lounge on a beach, explore the wilderness, check out a local farmer’s market, or just feel like they’re in control of their lives. Sunburns can result in skin peeling and redness, as well as irritations such as itch.

6. Prevents Tanning

Here are some ways to avoid the risk of your skin being harmed by UV rays while getting a tan. Sunscreen is usually a must! Remember to avoid close contact with the sun or from too-near sun exposure is still essential, regardless of how many SPF measures you use.

Sunscreen Myths That Need To Be De-funked Now

Sunscreen Lotion

1. The Higher The SPF The Better it Is

SPF is a measure of how much UV radiation a sunscreen can protect you from. Although it has nothing to do with your skin’s protection against the sun, SPF gives you some level of defense against redness caused by sun exposure. SPF means sunscreen protection. This product has been scientifically tested to last approximately 30 times longer than your skin’s shelf life.

2. Waterproof Sunscreen Doesn’t Wear Off In the Pool

Have you noticed the white and red patches that emerge on your skin after a dip in the pool or sea? These can be unwanted side effects of sun exposure, even if you’ve used sunscreen. It’s recommended that you reapply your sunscreen often, even on a sunny day, to avoid excessive sun damage. It also helps save time by reducing the amount of reapplying with water-resistant sprays.

3. No Need For Sunscreen If You’ve SPF Foundation

Despite its many different SPF-based formulas, there is no replacement for sunscreen lotion. Make sure you’re well-prepared before going outside for the day and make sure your sunscreen is non-chemical sun protection.

DIY Sunscreen Lotions

Sunscreen Lotion

1. Coconut sunscreen

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup Shea butter
  • 1/8 cup sesame oil or jojoba oil
  • 2 tbsps beeswax granules
  • 1 to 2 tbsps non-nano zinc oxide powder
  • 1 tsp red raspberry seed oil
  • I tsp carrot seed oil
  • 1 tsp lavender essential oil

In a double boiler, melt together coconut oil, sesame oil, and Shea butter. It will take time to melt at first but should eventually get smooth enough. The beeswax will be the last to melt. When the mixture is cool, take it off of the stove and stir in your zinc oxide. Stir it in and set it aside until you need it for your project – or apply it to your skin immediately! If you notice any lumps, don’t worry that’s normal. You’ll want the mixture to cool down in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.

Then, you can whisk it when you’re ready. Once it’s been in the refrigerator for long enough, take it out. You can use a food processor or hand mixer to help break and whip the cream. Drizzle in the essential oils and continue whisking until you have a light and fluffy mixture. Whisk liberally, as you would with store-bought sunscreen.

Store this homemade sunscreen in a glass container in the fridge between uses.

2. Sunscreen bars

Sunscreen Lotion

  • 1/3 cup melted coconut oil
  • 3 cups Shea butter
  • 1/2 cup grated, tightly packed beeswax
  • 2 rounded tbsps + 1.5 tbsps uncoated, non-nanoparticle zinc oxide
  • 1 tsp cacao or cocoa powder, for color
  • Essential oils
  • Vitamin E oil

Melt together coconut oil and Shea butter. Then, stir in the zinc oxide. All that’s left to do is remove your mixture from the heat and mix until smooth. If you’re adding the optional essential oils or vitamin E, combine them in a separate bowl. Once blended, pour the smoothie into silicon muffin tins. You can use any kind of mold for these though. Allow them to cool before removing them from the pans and storing them! If you’d like to speed things along, pop them in the freezer for 10 to 20 minutes.

3. Sun relief spray

  • 1/2 to 1 cup of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar
  • Spray bottle
  • 5 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 1 tsp organic coconut oil
  • 1 tsp aloe vera gel

By spraying a mixture of apple cider vinegar onto your skin after sun exposure, you can reduce the amount of time it will take for your skin to heal and can remove dead cells left by the sun. Be sure to keep it away from your eyes and ears as well. Mix lavender essential oil, aloe vera gel, and carrier oil in a bowl. Then, sit back and watch the skin become softer as the apple cider vinegar dries. Apply a mixture of honey and yogurt to the affected areas every few hours or as needed. Repeat the whole process as needed to alleviate irritation and help soothe raw skin.
