Every culture has different standards of beauty from a history rooted in traditions, etiquette, and aesthetics. For example, the Kayan tribe has shared that long giraffe necks are an essential sign of beauty for them. When you were born, you were given a head start. Pale and white skin is an indication of prestige in many Asian countries, as well as many Western countries.

In your youth, there were probably times when some of these cultural and regional definitions of beauty affected you.

Redefining what beauty really is

There’s nothing wrong with accepting and liking the things that make you unique. You’re only strengthening yourself by empowering your uniqueness and focusing on the things that make you you. Beauty is seeing yourself in a beautiful way, it’s being calm and confident. And being able to appreciate the world around you.

Recent reports show that most people now prioritize health as the top definition of beauty. This makes sense since looks are only temporary and are not able to predict long-term health, which can have a big impact on your life. This was followed closely by “hygiene and cleanliness,” “inner confidence,” and “being comfortable in your skin” whereas “looking presentable,” “maintaining a youthful appearance,” and “looking your best” fell lower on the list.

Stress

Stress is the primary cause of significant hormonal imbalances in the body. It also affects the skin by damaging its barrier function, which reduces its ability to absorb and retain moisture. This dehydrated skin has a dry, patchy, and blemished appearance. In ayurvedic terms, stress is related to how your body regulates itself and manages the three doshas in your system.

Fighting stress is something that we all should do. Sometimes, exercise can be an easy way to manage it. It’s also important to make time for calming activities like taking a walk, meditating, and yoga.

Sleep

Managing a lack of sleep is a constant challenge that most people face as they try to juggle work and family responsibilities. Pitta Skin Type –Pitta skin is typically normal to light tan color that ranges from fair to warm, and it is invariably soft and smooth. Pitta skin can break out easily and it is more sensitive than other patients of different ethnicities.

Kapha Skin Type – This skin type is thicker, which can make it more prone to clogged pores and also less hydrated. The result is that people with Kapha skin types can suffer from uneven skin tone, large pores, and excess oiliness in their 30s or 40s when the effects of aging start to appear.

These are a few tips for you based on your doshas. Understanding them takes time and work, but it can be worth it in the long run.

Vata Skin Type – Your skin needs moisturization and hydration as it’s unable to retain moisture. So, make sure you drink ample water and apply natural and nourishing moisturizers to your skin. In winter, you can even apply coconut oil for hydration.

Pitta Skin Type – Sunscreen is your best bet for facial use. It protects your skin from intense heat, UV rays, and other harsh conditions. Natural cleansers are your best bet for body use.

14. Stay Hydrated

Dehydration makes your skin look dry, tired, and slightly grey. It needs moisture to stay healthy and flexible. While all fluids count towards your daily intake, water is the best source of hydration. You should drink at least six to eight glasses of water a day.

Keep a large bottle of water on your desk to remind you to drink while working. Caffeine-free herbal teas also do the job pretty well. Also, fruits and vegetables like watermelon, cucumber, and courgette contribute to overall fluid intake.
